Πριν μια βδομάδα σιγοψιθυρίζαμε το υπέροχο αυτό κομμάτι, γυρνώντας στα σοκάκια της Ρώμης:

Αυτό και πολλά άλλα σημάδεψαν τις σκηνές της σχετικής ταινίας (ταινιάρα). Και διαβάζοντας για πρώτη φορά πριν λίγες μέρες το βιογραφικό του φιλέλληνα μακαρίτη συγκράτησα το εξής: In 1977, he joined the Russian Orthodox Church. Orthodox theology and Orthodox liturgical traditions became a major influence on his work. He was particularly drawn to its mysticism, studying and setting to music the writings of Church Fathers and completing a setting of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, the principal eucharistic liturgy of the Orthodox Church. It had been reported, particularly in the British press, that Tavener left Orthodox Christianity to explore a number of other different religious traditions, including Hinduism and Islam, and became a follower of the mystic philosopher Frithjof Schuon.^[4][5] In an interview with the New York Times, conducted by British music journalist Michael White, Tavener said: "I reached a point where everything I wrote was terribly austere and hidebound by the tonal system of the Orthodox Church, and I felt the need, in my music at least, to become more universalist: to take in other colors, other languages." The interview also reports that he "hasn’t abandoned Orthodoxy. He remains devotedly Christian."^[6]

Χαλάρωσε δικέ μου!

On 16 October 2011, Marconi Union created an eight minute track, titled "Weightless", in collaboration with the British Academy of Sound Therapy.

According to scientists at the Mindlab institution (a commercial 'neuromarketing' company) it induced a 65% reduction in overall anxiety and brought test subjects' resting pulse rates to 35% of their usual resting rates. The song features guitar, piano and manipulated field recordings. It is punctuated throughout by low tones that supposedly induce a trance-like state. This piece propelled the band into the media spotlight and news reports, and was reported in newspapers worldwide.^[7][8]

In November 2011, Marconi Union were featured in Time magazine's list of Inventors of the Year, for writing and recording "Weightless".

Σου βάζω τη σχετική συλλογή στο ψυγείο (περιέχει και άλλες κομματάρες), αλλά σου βάζω και ολόκληρο τον δίσκο γιατί αξίζει. Στον συνάδελφο για περαιτέρω.

The story of Girls in Hawaii has gone to some dark places in since the formation of the band in 2001 by Antoine Wielemans and Lionel Vancauwenberghe in 2001. They released their debut, From Here to There in 2004, but came dangerously close to getting burned out whilst touring its follow-up.
The title of Plan Your Escape became a self-fulfilling prophecy for the band – a quartet comprised of two sets of siblings, completed by Antoine’s brother Denis and Lionel’s brother Brice. They were looking for a way out; they took time off, and Denis started a hip-hop side-project called Hallo Kosmo. Then, he was killed in a car crash on the way home from a gig in 2010, and the band almost collapsed.
Antoine seemingly couldn’t carry on, but it was through his songs that the band found the strength to reconvene for Everest, a deeply personal, yet not necessarily downbeat, album that deals with loss, its aftermath and – most importantly – the will to live.
