In Trance 95

IN TRANCE 95, formed by Alex Machairas and Nik Veliotis in May 1988, was the first Greek band to base its sound entirely on the use of electronic instruments. Between 1988 and 1991, the duo’s most creative period, they released a small number of records. Amongst them was their debut 7inch “Desire to Desire/Brazilia” and their LP “Code Of Obsession” which both became cult and quite rare. The records are hard to find these days as there were all released as limited editions by small indie labels of the period. With Nik’s departure at 1992 the band continued for few more years with George Geranios replacing him until their final split in 1996. At the end of 2006, there was an attempt to reform as Itenef with the line up being Alex, George & new member Magdalena Sverlander on synths, while Alex started slowly re-building “Airdawn”, the band’s studio. The official comeback of IT95 came in April 2010 with the original line up Machairas / Veliotis and the addition of Magda and Anna Athanasouli for the band’s live shows. In the following months the duo started recording their new album “Abovearth” which will be completed this Spring of 2011 for a release the latter part of the year. During the same period, with the help of Minimal Wave, In Trance 95 completed the album “Cities Of Steel And Neon” which is a collection of their very early tapes, remixed and remastered, compiled by Veronica and slated to be released by Minimal Wave in May 2011. Currently, Alex and Nik are back in the studio finishing their comeback album. At the start of the year, they took a break for a live gig in Athens in which they presented tracks from both LPs.
